I wonder what their actual toilets look like?  Will they switch places and make them look like dining tables?

Now you can input any publicly accessible restroom for any place in the U.S.  All we need is the key information including an exact street address (without that it is not on the map), the hours of business and your rating.

So even if you wanted to rate the toilet facilities of Willees Tavern in the small town of Mars, Pennsylvania, you could do that.  (If I recall correctly, the fish & chips were quite good there.)

Watch this blog.  We will soon be announcing a contest to encourage people to add new locations.

The process is simple. We are putting a voting widget on our site and encouraging local media and bloggers to put it on theirs. Voters input the street address of the location into the widget. If the location they are looking for appears in our list, they simply select it and choose “Best” or “Worst.” If the location is not on the list, the voter will be taken to our site where they can add the location and rate it there. At the end of the voting period we will tabulate the votes and announce the Top 5 and Bottom 5 restrooms in each city.’We will be running the contest in Portland Oregon starting May 5, 2008.

Finding a clean bathroom is a challenge anywhere, but in Europe, it is an art.

Well, no fear, MizPee is now in Europe.

We are launching with just 4 cities (London, Paris, Barcelona, and Rome) but are quickly expanding and should be in over 10 in the next few months.

Initially, she’ll only be speaking English, but she’ll soon be speaking other languages as we know that the locals have as much trouble finding clean facilities as we travelers do.

Now you can work on your more descriptive vocabulary (for our comments area) such as: “sparkling clean,” “filthy,” “pig sty,” “graffiti-strewn,” “could eat off the floor,” and more.

Well, Mizpee is the result of a number of things. The two founders, Dhana & I have been in the mobile industry for a combined 17 years (whoa!). So essentially, we live and breathe mobile every day of our lives.

But the real inspiration, if you can call it that, came from a visit to a public bathroom in a public building. (The Department of Homeland Security has asked that we do not reveal the name of the building or the city it is located.) The smell of the facilities was so bad that after only two minutes I had a splitting headache. I thought (or silently` screamed) “if I only knew where there was a clean toilet in this area that I could just walk in and use!” Given our backgrounds the rest followed easily.

You’re probably thinking: Dude, why not just ask someone on the street where a bathroom is?

Valid question.

Well, we ask you:
Will that person really know a close bathroom? (proximity is somewhat of a pressing issue where bathrooms are concerned) Will that person know if it is clean?

Will that person know if the building is open at that hour?

Will that person know if it has the facilities you need, e.g. diaper changing station?
